Hi,
For usage of car, nthig to worry about BS IV versions and BSII versions as its applicable for manufacturers. However it will matter while selling the car with which car price would be lesser by 5 to 10K or so.

From 1 April 2010,all new cars need to comply to BS IV norms at metros. BS IV norms reduce the emission from BS III. IF buying a new car, go for a BS IV, else BS III is OK. At metros, no new registration is possible if car is not BS IV
