Hi,
Among the two Optra would be a better choice on account of comparitively lower maintenance cost.

Answer by Shiva Shankar 03 March 2010

Coming to the point, first off all both these cars are not in production in India. I have had Elantra for the last 3 years and without a head ache. I give it for servicing every 6 months and my bill runs to INR RS.2500, so thats Rs. 5000 per annum. In petrol efficiency, i get 8 kmpl. This is because - irrespective of weather conditions the car air conditioning is running continuously. On high ways i get 10 kmpl. I havent faced any issue till now and hence feel elantra is a better car in India.

Kiran

I seriously would like to understand what is the difference in Rupees when you said "better choice on account of comparitively lower maintenance cost."

Has kiran said Elantra is good. Iam having CRDI DISEl. Iam getting a very good mileage. Since its disel service charge will a bit high. But i used ti give my car for general service alone. In high ways iam getting aroung 16 Kmpl.
Elantra is better.

hey rajesh. i own an elantra myself. truly speakin i hav fallen in love with this car. go for the elantra any day. hyundai is more reliable and cheaper than a chevrolet to run. my crdi version gives me 12kmpl in the city and 16kmpl on the highways. i am planning to cell my elantra as i am goin abroad. if u are interested pls mail me to alafir@gmail.com
below are the specs of my car;

elantra crdi(diesel) fully loaded, 2005, 64000km done, blue, sony xplod sound system, sunroof(costed me rs70k xtra), climate control, 17inch alloys, recently changed bridgestone tubeless tyres, regularly serviced at authorized hyundai dealers, comprehensive insurance coverage till feb 2011, tamil nadu registration, no accident history.

Hi I had bought a New Elantra (GLS) in 2005 & have recently sold the same after five years. It is a total myth that the Car requires heavy maintenance In fact Annual Service Costs range between 4000-10000 Rs ( 2/3 Services in a year) & that is pretty cheap.Re Mileage I was getting 8 KMPL in City & on Highways 13-14 KMPL - I would say Elantra is better when compared to Optra
