Cars Q&A

Hello Experts, I Have a small query, i want to buy a hatch within 4Lac, which one should i go for. My usage is less then 400-500km per month, but i want to use the same car for 8-10yrs, therefore the car should be low on maintenance. Or since my usage is low should i go for used car, if yes then which one and at what price? Thanks for your assistance Ravi

  • Expert Hi,
In the budget range mentioned and for long term usage the new Zen Estilo would be a good option for its upgraded engine, power, good service back up.

  • You have 3 options - New Zen Estilo, Santro Xing and the next one is WagonR - Duo. Wagon R Duo slightly exceeds your budget, but since you plan to use the car for next 8-10 years, you can save a lot on the running cost since its LPG also. Its good for you to go for a new car since you have the plans to keep it for a long time. Hope this helps.

  • Hi,

I think the best option for you is to go for New Zen Estilo. I had a Santro Xing & used it for 3 years. It is a fantastic car but I am not too convinced with its performance on highways. Its suspension also not very great and even if you hit a small pot hole, it makes a thundering jolt! The New Zen Estilo, with KB series Engine is a fabulous one & it is loaded with features, more importantly, BS-IV norms compliant!
    All the best,

  • I think you should not go for either a Diesel/CNG/LPG car
    Go for Petrol Car

Now with the kind of budget you have, the best options will be
    1) Chevrolet Beat
    2) Hyundai Getz
    3) Hyundai Santro

Dont go for second Hand car as you are looking to drive your Car for another 8-10 years.. so you will face trouble after 3-4 years if you buy second hand car now.

  • Hi Ravi, try the new Ford Figo petrol in yr range. If u can spend 1 lac more, then diesel would be a great choice. Check the prices in yr city. Good, sturdy & comfortable car and expected to give good mileage, petrol - 15+ & diesel 20+.
Santro otherwise is tried n tested, only thing is that Hyundai seems to have reduced the interiors quality in the new car, u need to check.Mileage is 15 kmpl.
I am sure that you know driving, hence test drive both the above and Estilo with your near & dear ones, feel the feel of the cars, check features n benefits, kmpl etc, then decide.

  • Honda's new small car OR hyundai i10 OR Santro

Always go for used car as it saves lot of money.

At the time of selling you will have less pain

Even if you keep it you feel satisfied and you can use it roughly.
