Dear Shiva, My question regarding 2 or 3 cylinder cards has been ignored by you. Can you please tell me what is the differene between 2 Cylinder cars and 3 cylinder cars? Considering this, is a Vokswagen Polo car which has only 3 cyliners is inferior to a car with 4 cylinders? What does cyliner mean to a car engine ?

Hi,
Sorry for delayed aswering.
The advantage of 3 cylinder engine is the reduction in overall weight of the engine,reduced frictional parts and hence better utilisation of power. Four cylinder engine has more power and torque output due to increased number of cylinders and henc etotal power output.Though there is increased frictional losses the same will be overcome by extra power generated. Mileage of 3 cylinder engine would be better than 4 cylinder engine of similar capacity.
Wwith respect to Polo 3 cylinder and 4 cylinder 3 cylinder engine is cost effective and gives better mileage than the 4 cylinder version which is better on account of cost effectiveness,power,pickup and torque.
