Cars Q&A

hi i have purchased a new tata indica vista safire ( DEC 2009). i would like to know whether the ground clearance would increase, 1)if i increase the wheel size from current 13" to 15" . 2)what exact tyre size should i go for if i like to replace the stock with a 15" alloy wheel. 3)Is there any other thing to be changed to do the same. 4) finally what are the pros n cons if i do so. Is there any plans from TATA about introducing the ABS and AIRBAG version of VISTA in the near future. Whether i can install ABS and AIRBAG to my vehicle. DAVID

Though its possible to increase ground clearence with suitable modifications, it wont be worth doiing so as vehicle is designed for specific speed and requirments increasing ground clearence would also affect vehicle dynamics.
If there is enough space near axle shaft so as to enable free movement of wheel then you can go for higher rim sized Tyres. Generally for Indica max R14 tyre canbe fitted.
Tata has not provided optional ABS, Airbag in Indica Vista. It may not be possible to impliment the same.

Hi David,

1st of all, I would suggest you to go for 14" instead of 15".
If you still insist on going for 15", the tyre best suited to your car is 195/50 R15, which is quite difficult to source. So the next best upsize is 205/50 R15, and this size will help in increasing the ground clearance as well.

Coming again to my suggested size of 14", tyre should be 185/60 R14 and if you are keen on increasing the ground clearance go for 195/60 R14.
