Cars Q&A

Question
I want to purchase a new WagonR, but I read a review posted some days back, that, Maruti is replacing WagonR with new K-series engine. Let me know please, what would be disadvantages to a person holding present WagonR after the launch of new WagonR. Whether the parts for present wagonR would also be discontinued by Maruti after some days.

Hi,
Yes, as Maruti Suzuki is in process of upgrading all models with K series engines, it can be expected to upgrade Wagon R also in near future. However it wont affect the already existing car in terms of maintenance and usage but there can be slight reduction in resale value say around 20K or so from that of the present resale value.

With the change in emission standards all maruti vehicles with Bharat Stage 3 to be changed to stage 4 by April 2010 for major metros only. Yes maruti has to change the wagon R engine to 999 CC K star engine. They may not plonk the 1.2 engine from Ritz as it will compete with the same. Rest of the parts should be same and will be available. But change in model for R wagon is not sure in near future unless suzuki gives some outdated dies to maruti

Buy immediately. pl. note that new model will be costly along with poor drivability as 1.0 L K-series is a 3 cylinder engine against current 4cyl 1.1 L engine.

Yes,

I agree with last statement. Its good to prefer max nos. of cylinders for longer life of engine, rather than the 3 cyl. eng.
