Hi,
ABS stands for Antilok braking system. The system is to avoid brakes getting locked.This helps specially at slippey surfaces and steep turns.When brakes are applied the brake pads or shoe can hold the disc/drom for bit longer duration (thogh in seconds).If the same is with ABS system implimented, it will prevent locking and hence the wheels becomes free faster.
