Please let me know the most comfortable hatchback to drive on the indian roads in the following 3 categories: (1) Petrol (2) Diesel (3) Auto transmission

Hi,
Considering Comfortable in terms of interiors,upholstery,steering,maintenance cost, and offcource style and apeal EXCLUDING price of the car , the cars can be listed as below .
In petrol ,
Skoda Fabia,Honda Jazz Hyundai i20 , Fiat Grand Punto, Swift,Indica Vista etc
In diesel
Grande Punto,Indica Vista,Maruti Suzuki Ritz
In AT version Honda Jazz,Hyundai i20 etc.

If cost effectiveness is also considered then optimum selection in Petrol would be a Hyundai i10 or a Ritz and In diesel Fiat Grande Punto or a Indica vista.In AT version i10 AT version

ritz would be the best selection for petrol...coz of its most efficient engine in its class.

for diesel also ritz or swift would be the best... but u can go for i20 also.

Hi, I have had the A-Star, Swift, and the i20. I beleive if you want to go for a higher price range, then you should go for the i20 deisel(it is way better thatn the petrol version). Otherwise I suggest the A star which has 'alright' efficiency and has good handling.
