Dear all, please clarify, as far as FUEL CONSUMPTION is concerned which is best option?? manual transmission(MT) or Automatic transmission(AT) and what is the difference in percentage approximately the mileage per litre, between them? AT may be driving comfort but at what cost in mileage difference with MT? or will the AT give higher mileage than MT???

  • You can expect a 10-15 % drop in fuel economy which in my opinion is negligeble considering the hundred fold increase in driving comfort..

  • Expert AT transmission reduces mileage by about 10%
However as earlier pointed out it reduces fatigue to half or even less in city traffic and 10 fold in stop and go traffic. Once you use an AT, most kind of just get addicted to it and don't want to switch back to manual just for the convenience AT offers. It is totally worth the slightly reduced fuel efficiency.

  • Expert Hi,
AT versions delivers mileage lesser by app 1 or 2 kmpl max. The advantage of AT version is the easier operation and generally problems like noisy gearbox, engageing problems will be much lesser compared to MT versions.
