Question
Hello, I am planning to change my Santro Xing 2007 model's wheel rim from the original steel to Alloy Wheels. Need advice as... 1. I am little confused between the brands available like League, Neo, Lenso, Palti etc. Which is the best ? 2. Does it really differ in performance? or only the looks ? 3. Is it necessary to change the tyres/tube to tubeless or can I continue to use the existing ? Regards

Hi,
Going for alloy wheels and tubeless tyres wil certainly improve ride and handling quality. However considering the investment , the existing Steel wheels would solve the purpose.

Hi William ,

you should n't replace the wheels with any local brands. I have also replaced the wheels rim with alloy and Bridgestone tubeless tyres from Hyundai Dealership .

thanks

Hi,

1) You have Original Hyundai Alloys to add to your list. You can go in for Any Brand, depending on your Wallet :-). Since you may be using for city and highway driving, any brand alloy is fine

2) Performance will matter only with Alloy + Tyre combination. A better tyre will provide a better grip and handling. Alloys wont make much of a difference. Go For Yokohama or Michelin if you need better tyres.

3) If you are happy with the existing performance, the same tyres would do. if you are looking for some better performance and Handling, a tyre upgrade is suggested.

Let us know if you need more suggestions.

Thank you

Hi,

I also own 2007 Santro Xing. I replaced the steel rims with that of original Alloy wheels at an authorised Hyundai Service.

It certainly looks great and I could really see a little bit of improvement with regard to mileage. But still I believe that the very first advantage of alloy wheels is its elegant looks! It wl cost u something around Rs.20000 for 5 wheels if you get it done from an authorised hyundai dealer.

unlike in Steel wheels, it doesn't get dent when an impact of pot hole is felt at a high speed.

All the best.

Tubeless tyres are meant to smooth ride and avoid flat out due to a puncture. A wider tyre gives more grip and moves more comfortably there by enhancing the driving pleasure.

A tubeless tyre is most recommended on Alloy wheels though they can be put on steel rims too. Alloys are known to break or bend at high speed impact on potholes (it is difficult to bring alloy rims back to same shape), steel rims also do bend at high speed impact on potholes but the bends can be restored.

Go for Tubeless tyres of good brand like Bridgestone, Michelin.

Alloys, there are good brands like Plati, Lenso, HR.

Avoid your Hyundai dealership for this, go for an independent tyre specialist for tyres, independent alloy wheel seller for alloys.

After enjoying 5 various models of santro, now a days i am happy with Accent Executive gvng me milage of 14+ & 12. I never gone for alloy wheels as i'm convinced that not more than show, but certainly from the first day of each model I used tubeless tyre and satisfied 100% as never deceived on road never never. I wl recommond strongly every body to use Tubeless tyres. Sorry I'm not helpfull to advice on alloys
