4x4 means 4 wheels are powered by 4 wheels
4x2 means 4 wheels are powered by 2 wheels
16x4 means 16 wheels are powered by 4 wheels (for trucks/trailers)
Where powered means all of them get engine power to move and are not free wheeling.

4X4 means four wheel drive , here all four wheels are provided with driving torque..Her one transfer box is provided to change to four wheel or two wheel drive as desired.
