Cars Q&A

Hi Shiva, i have contacted a local LPG kit dealer, who says, he has a Ford Ikon 1.6 lpg converted to show me, to drive. I haven't been able to view it till now. Planning to go shortly. He charges 40k for a Sequential kit(estimated mileage 10 kmpl), and 20k for normal kit(estimated mileage 8-9 kmpl). Would you suggest me to go for lpg for my ikon 1.6 2003 model? Thanks, Alok

Its best you sell the car, & get a diesel car...
2003 petrol will fetch you in market 1.5- 2.0 lakhs, now ur overhead investment or 20 / 40k is not going to add value to your car...
Sell it and get urself something like a Lancer diesel / Accent crdi

Thanks for your advice Tharun, but no plans to sell it. In my experience, it is better car than a Accent or Lancer in all every way.
Anyways, thanks for your opinion.

Expert`s comment:

Most of the Ikon cars fitted with LPG kit have developed pick up problems and there is increased maintenance cost due to repeat occurance of troubles.Hence considering life of engine and decent fuel economy given by Ikon recommended not to go for LPG fittment. However If willing to go for LPG fittment normal kit with investment of 20k would solve the purpose.
