I need to buy a sedan. Had almost finalised for COROLLA ALTIS 1.8G model. Have a friend of mine selling his Accord 2.4 MT 2006 model at 8L. Please advice whether I should consider.

Hi,
The cost of ownership of Altis would come up to app 13Lac.The advantage is the comfort of a new car and warranty back up.
Considering the good resale value of Accord. The cost of 8.0 Lac for 2006 model seems to be very genuine. Aaccord has brand value better than Altis. It will be worth going for used Accord provided the vehicle condition including technical aspects, interiors, glossy body painting is good.

I have an imported (from Japan) Toyota Corolla which I am using for last more than 10 years. It is giving me fault less service. However, maintenance is a bit costly. But you may not face that problem because now Toyota cars are made in India and spares for the new models are available in India.

COMPARISON BETWEEN TOYOTA CAROLLA ALTIS AND HONDA ACCORD IS UNFAIR BECAUSE THEY BELONGTO DIFFERENT SEGMENTS. THE EQUIVALENT TOYOTA CAR IS THE CAMRY.

WHILE TOYOTA CARS ARE INTERNATIONALLY REPUTED FOR RELIABILITY AND QUALITY, THE STYLING LEAVES SOMETHING TO BE DESIRE, HONDA CARS SCORE IN THIS ASPECT.

AS FOR THE EXPERIENCE OF OWNERSHIP, I HAVE 2005 COROLLA H5 WHICH HAS ALL THE LOADINGS EXCEPT THE AUTO-GEAR. DRIVING IS EFFORTLESS IN CITY AS WELL AS ON HIGHWAY DESPITE THE SIZE. FUEL CONSUMPTION IS ALSO DECENT FOR AN ENGINE OF THIS SIZE- I REGULARLY GET AN AVERAGE OF OVER 11 KMS/LIT OVERALL.
I RECENTLY HAD TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE CLUTCH KIT( THE CAR HAS DONE 80k kms), WHICH COSTED ME 11000 RUPEES.

I HAVE NO XPERIENCE OF DRIVING THE ACCORD, BUT ALWAYS ADMIRED THE STYLING. BUT THE SIZE OF THE CAR IS A DETEERANT IF YOU HAVE TO DRIVE THRU NARROW STREETS.

Depends on what u want. Status or Value for money. On the balance I would go for a new car. When these cars have a problem the repair cost can be huge. I am very happy with my corolla. Avg w/o ac is over 14 kmpl for a 2007 model. Leg room is good even at the rear. Handling & acceleration is very good for city traffic.
