Cars Q&A

Question
hi, i have a Ford Ikon 1.6 2003 model. Good running condition and well maintained. I feel that, the pick up in 1st gear and 2nd gear has reduced compared to earlier days. Also, while ac is on, the ac makes a noise which can be heard from outside, not from inside. is it normal? Is the ac overloading the engine, which is responsible for slower pickup? What average should i get on city with ac on? If i fit LPG kit, will it be beneficial for me? please advise..

Hi,
There is no much problems with AC.Please get the AC serviced and tell technicians to clean the ducts also.Servicing of vehicle including cleaning/replacement of air filter and Fuel supply will improve mileage and pick up.
You can go to other dealer/ service center if present dealer is not providing good service.

Hi Alok I would appreciate if you clarify, whether your car is petrol or diesel. Based on your noise concerns I guess it is petrol. Well Friend the fact that it is running after 6 years means your engine is fine. AC noise is bound to happen due to overall stress on fan, cooling coil etc, but a periodic servicing will definitely reduce that. Regarding pickup, has this coincided with increase in mileage if yes then rest and enjoy if not then just get your car serviced on basics, engine oil and air filter change, top up of gear oil, brake oil, steering wheel oil etc it will definitely take care of the pickup.
