Petrol car is always have a smooth drive rather than a Diesel, but recent Diesel engines trying to fill the gap.Nearly 80% smooth you can feel a Diesel as good as a Petrol,But the difference 20% ,you should compromise with the fuel cost.
(e.g) My Honda City -- 1500 Kms/Month ... fuel Cost..Rs.5700/-
My Swift Dizre--1500 Kms/Month... Fuel cost...Rs.2700/-

THAT IS SAVING ....47.36%

Hi,

The main difference is the initial cost which is always higher for a diesel car.The cost per liter of fuel is cheaper for diesel and hence there will be overall gain in expenditures if used for long term.Apart from this petrol has advantage of faster pick up and smoother operation, light in weight and hence better fuel efficiency. The selection mainly depends upon initial investment and preferences for usage ie regular long drives etc.
