After buying a new car, what are the Do's and specially the Dont's while driving or handling. Also should we always use the petrol with additives(which is costlier) rather than the normal petrol, always.

For learners:
Learners find it hard to judge that wheels are rotated and how much ,especially during starting and a little carelessness would cause ramming etc.

Beginners find parking difficult for the same reason as above, and a copassenger can guide from inside/outside.

Beginners should preferably take a codriver / co passenger especially on highways and during night traffic.

Donot panic if something goes wrong for example pressing accelerator instead of brakes is a common error. If something like this happens and you panic, you lose the control.

All time users:
Read the users manual repeatedly.

Follow the checklist given in the manual like parking brake release, fan and /ac settings check, petrol level, dashboard warning signs/ indicators before putting into gears.

Importance of Seatbelts cannnot be overemphasized.

Donot skip gears and donot allow lugging.

Donot drive when you are drunk, sleepy or emotinally disturbed at the moment.

Take frequent breaks in a long journey, beneficial for both the driver and the car. swapping the drivers also helps, when possible.

Drive at the optimum RPM

Hi,
If buying a new car it is always advisable to run the car at average of 60 to 80KMPH max for about 1000km.After that you can run the car at any desired speed and long run also. Also have a check in the owners manual for average speed that can be driven in each gear.Generally First gear is uo to 10KMMPH,2nd gear upto 40KMPH, 3rd gear upto 60,fourth gear up to 80KMPH and above 80KMPH top gear.
