Cars Q&A

Question
I have recently on 13th July, 2009 bought an used car called Santro Xing XP-2003 model petrol version sparingly used by owner for 28000 kms it is under the company service contract. Please suggest whether I can convert the same to LPG or CNG and what will be the expenditure on it. Now it gives around 12 to 13 kms. But after fitting LPG or CNG what will be its average. Are the Hyundai cars suitable for CNG or LPG which is suitable please suggest.

Dear Mukund,

Surely you can convert your car to LPG and / Or CNG. Fitting a Gas Kit will involve the tank to be fitted in your boot space so you will be devoid of Boot Usage to the maximum.

The Average in a car doesnt change much because of usage of Gas, The difference is the cost of LPG/ CNG that is much lower than that of Motor Spirit/ Petrol that enable the huge reduction in your montly spend on fuel. Further more LPG is more cleaner a fuel too.

Hyundai cars are completeyl suitable to run on gas, no issues.

The cost of the Original and Authorised Kits will range from Rs 20000-25000. These are amongst the better known brands. Esle kits a are also available in cheaper version, though not advisable. It is also important to get these fitted from sound mechanics/ service stations and authorised by the RTO.

The company warranty if any will not be fully valid if you get the kit fitted out.

Happy driving.

Hi,
The price quoted for Santro XP is quite genuine and worth considering features of the car and reliability. You can go for fittment of LPG kit with initial investment of around 18 to 20 K.
