Are the diesel Engines from Nissan or Toyota generally fitted by local mechenics in petrol cars like Palio, esteem etc. reliable. Are their Spares readily available in local market. What is the life of such engines and what is the maintenance cost

No the modified engines are not reliable for trouble free operation. Yo will have to visit local mechanic very frequently.
