Cars Q&A
the A/C belt slipping out of the pulley groove of your safari has few reasons (a) check alingment of Engine pulley and AC pulley,(b)worn out grooves of the pulley, slag in the fittment of AC compressor or Engine pulley,
you didn't mention which year/model your safari is. if it happens to be the 2.2 version , the dealer will provide you with the retro-fit of either the pulley or the belt. infact ,all the 2.2 versions till sep 2008 , have got the damper pulley changed under warranty.
secondly , you haven't mentioned whether the belts are getting worn out too fast ,or showing signs of wear before slipping & is it giving out that typical creeking noise from the belt.
The model of the vehicle is 2000 and apart from the problem mentioned earlier, the car never gave me any problems so far except periodical maintainance.
The belt doesn't wear out. In fact even after using best quality belt, within hours of fitment the belt slips out of the pulley. But when it remains in place, the cooling remains great and cooling starts to decrease gradually within one hr of fitment and the belt fully comes out of the pulley groove at the A/C unit end.
Hi,
The problem can be solevd bu putting new belt and aligning the pully properly. The Tata Motors service people should be able to do this.
DEAR SHIVA ,
IF U SEE THE PROBLEM, IT SEEMS FOLLOWING REASONS .
1. TYPE OF BELT UR USING MAY NT BE COMPATIBLE WITH ( 3LTR, 2.2LTR , 2.0 LTR)
2. AS U SAID ALIGNING OF PULLEYS ISN'T A BAD IDEA BUT IN YOUR CASE KINDLY CHECK POSITION AND FIGMENT OF AC COMPRESSOR BRACKET.
3.IF PROBLEM STILL PERSIST KINDLY CHECK WITH FULLY OF ENGINE AND AC COMPRESSOR FOR ANY BEND MAY DUE TO HAMMERING OR MISS FITTING OF SAME .
Regards ,
Major.Santhosh
Thank you one and all for giving me the valuable tips to set right the problem
