Hi,

I feel SX4 is good,because you said your husband is in army.If he is transfered any part of INDIA he will get 100 percent service from the Maruthi ie, SX4.

Go for Punto . that is a good choice. Average of SX4 is too low as compared to punto and linea.

Cost wise there is lot of difference too.

If you have a low mileage,I would suggest that you go in for a petrol engine.It is cheaper than the diesel version by a big margin.As a thumb rule,in India a diesel is a good option only if your mileage is more than about 3000kms PM......

How big is your family? if more than 4 then, go for a Mid Sized Sedan and not a hatchback, as you rightly pointed out. If not you could consider a smaller one. Maruti continues to rock the sales and service line in India, but its products are quite basic. The SX4 is amongst the better Maruti vehicles and has given good results.

Fiat too has brought in fantastic product lines in India, however they , earlier failed miserably in service delivery standards as well as replacement parts.

The recently launched Linea is a fabulous car and it almost gives one the feeling of being driven in a car that is a Class above [ C Class Sedan ] its existing segment.

Fiat and the Tatas have joined hands for the Services delivery. The parts availability , still remain a question.

Pl test drive both vehicles and try for yourself.

Considering your husbands services background, I would recommend a Maruti SX4. Its always better to go with the proven and tested. Maruti unbdoubtedly is a practically extra maintenence free car.This also guarantees a much better resale price whenever desired.

The issues that FIAT has faced is the making of Premier Auto (their earsTwhile partner) and further blown out of proportion by competetors who can't really compete with FIAT on product alone. So go ahead and buy the LINEA, there is not better sedan in the country today under 12lacs.

with companies going bust in these difficult times fiat has actually taken over one of the biggest auto manufacturers of the U.S i.e Chrysler..hope it clears the air about the reputation of fiat

Fiat is theee BEST ! i hv a 96 uno and a 99 palio 1.6 , xcellent cars , plan to go in for a Punto ! Just go in for a Punto in case u don't need a big car !

Think only for fiat linea or punto.
