Go for WagonR.. I had Santro before WagonR.. and I experienced WagonR is much much better than Satro... But look wise I like Santro

take wagonr its a good tall boy car. low maintanence and good on mileage also.

Wagon R is taller,has more seating space. About jerks on bumpy roads- sorry cant say as not much experienced on santro. Santro geras are more easy and soft when compared to reverse gear of wagon r. Fuel efficiency of wagon r is about 15-16 with AC, its pick up is better and my vehicle in past 9 years has never given major problems. Wogon r has bigger dicky.
But make sure wagon r is with power steering else its like a truck.

To be frank u should go with what u have in mind after all u should enjoy what u have still im a fan of santro looks is gud comapared to wagon r which looks like milk van, yes wagaon r parts are bit cheaper compared to santro s bit not much and i feel santro is much safer and comfortable then wagon r on highways especially. In short both has got pros and cons but as said u should go for what u enjoy driving.

I own a santro. I feel the drive quality is better in santro than wagon R. Wagon R may shiver if you cross 100KM but santro u can go up to 120KM with out any problem. I use to take my car for long drives. City drive is very good with the car. But ya wagon R lill under powerd than santro buy fuel economy is more in wagon. I feel Santro model will fade out as hundai has introduced I10 . same on wagon as maruti have introduced A star and Ritz. But to be frank i am not sure.Back side leg room is less in santro.I some how like driving santro. Bumpy roads and all i felt its ok with santro. As you said the new santro versions are not coming with ABS etc and also there is reduction in the price.
I would suggest to go for a test drive with your parents on both the vechile and decide.

Well Sumit as m myself driving Santro Xing for past 4 1/2 yrs so my vote will definitely go to Xing.
I have driven Wagon R as well but i dint find it at all comfortable as compared to R both in driving as well as sitting. Moreover technologywise Hyundai is much ahead of Maruti.
When it comes to a/c d moment a/c is turned on in R u can note the drop in pick-up but in Xing there's no change.
yeah i agree spacewise R is much btttr ythan Xing but when compared to other comforts it's nominal.

Much has been said about the pros & cons of both these cars. As far as I have experienced as the owner of a Wagon R for the last 41/2 years and a Maruti 800 earlier is that the parts are easily available at affordable cost and there is an excellent network of authorised service centres. This aspect should be considered when buying a car.

well santro is having good pickup,smooth & silient engine better in technology, better AC ,look wise good but less fuel efficient ,not comfortable even to driver as seating is such that when in top gear the gear touches your left leg so u hav to adjust yourself so its tiring in long drive, not suitable on bumpy road specially rear suspension are worst in its class, also costly than w-R so i would suggest u to analysis yourself on these points and better to take Ritz as its new model and more comfortable.

Personally I'd prefer WagonR as it more reliable and comfirtable then Santro. As far as the hight is concern Wagon R(1660 mm) is 70 mm taller then Santro (1590 mm). One thing you need to know that Maruti is going to discontinue this model of WagonR and laaunch another one (I heard it from horse's mouth) which will fatch you a real good discount on this car (Somawhare around 25k-30k on may bee more).

I am also planning to buy a new car.
After a detailed study and test rides of R & Xing and I found Wagon -R is a complete family car. Externally it is not as good as Xing but internally I mean the dash board is much better than Xing.

I own 2004 model Santro Zing. My vehicle is sturdy. Expecially the engine is maded out of steel which is worth mentioning, but I was told that Wagon R comes with Alluminium Engine, which may account to fuel efficiency. However, sturdiness and longevity of the engine should also be considered. I am getting 15kms per ltd. in city limits.
Speaking of leg space, height & boot space, it is not a big difference any way. Road grip wise, Santro is better than Wagon R, because of the broad tyres base, broad body & weight of the engine, body gauge.

The only feature I liked in wagon R is that it has got a sharp initial pickup.

Better go for second hand 2004 model Santro Zing with PS & AC.
