Cars Q&A

Question
I heard a lot about Linea diesel being underpowered even though ford and maruti dzire, the former has 1400 cc but less bhp/torque and the later sharing the same engine with 77bhp and about 190 torque in comparison are termed ok. furthermore, the hyundai verna vgt is considered overpowered having about 110 bhp at 236 torque.. could you please then, explain all this ratios so as to understand the diesel engines a little better. moreover is fiat linea really underpowered in your opinion and is it planning to launch a 1600cc in near future.

Answers:

The bhp gives indication of the engine power and higher torque means the engine can be driven on higher gears at lower speeds. the linea feels a little slow on the uptake initially at rpms below 1500, but once above that it really gets going. i think the company has designed it that way to give better fuel efficiency.
i have been driving linea diesel since past 3 mths(5000) kms. the amount of luxury provided at its cost is uncomparable.

Hi,
Linea diesel has power of 86bhp and torque of 20.7 KGM. Hyunda Verna has power of 101 BHP and torque of 24.7. Truely Verna has the advantage of more power and Torque compared to Linea. The relation between the power and torque also depends upon the weight distribustion ration and loss of power at transmissionand other related parts. The weight of Linea is app 1300 Kg and that of Verna 1200 kg. So comparitively performance of both is good.Linea has advantage of lower price and newer looks.
