2004 above the M800 cars ar good and you will get good mileage also in highway i think so i should give you around 16 to 17 KM aditya

ur garage wala is misguiding you. carburettor engines are not manufactured any more, obviously because they r not good. mpfi engines are good. i fully agree with dr rao, go for mpfi 5speed gear box maruti car, it was best maruti 800model ever produced, its a wonderful car, it also has more power than regular 4gear maruti, i have it for last 7 years, and driven it for 50,000 km, and never had any problem at all, its a small dream car.
go for it, if u get one, as its no more produced, alto lxi has same engine, in it.

I have a maruti 800, 1996 model. It has a carb and it driven for 80Thousand KMs. Its a very reliable car. For a common man there is very lettle difference betwen carb and MPFI. Carb are cheap to maintain as compared to the Injectors used in MPFI cars. Due to the pollution norms the carb were removed and the MPFI technology brought in. The 800 5 Speed has a complete engine and gearbox of a Alto and has 4 valves per cylinder as compared to the 2 valves for other maruti 800 cars. Well I can go on and on on this topic. gone are the days of carburettor cars since the mpfi engines are more refined,efficient and less polluting,they are also less prone to getting defective in comparison to the carburetted cars,technology is improving day by day so stop crying for the old fashioned cars.your mechanic is certainly one who goes for fiat and ambassadors still.

I had 118NE petrol version used it for 4 years trouble.Recently I got across a M800 1993 model clocked 30K kms.Now Ive clocekd more then 4k kms in 3 months. On long distance (ussually I drive in rural sectors so no highways)drive it has given 22.5 kms/lts checked with 5 tank fulls as check points and with 3/4th windows glass rolledup to minimize the drag effect.Overall it has given 19.5 Kms/Ltr. I would like to share that its not only the car but also the driving style, road manners, and other factors. Carb version as of now is good if you are in rural segment as it is easy to fix.
However both have thier own advants over each other.

My navy blue 1996 maruti 800 carb still drives like a gem. I recently changed her tyres to 145 80 r12 Michelin XM2, and she feels new all over again. On highways I get 19 kmpl.

It chases and smokes Swifts petrols, well swift diesels are definitely not reachable

I have M800 MPFI 2006 model, without AC long Drive its gives around 23to24KM per lit.
