Hi,
Indigo CS diesel does make a good option inthe budget range mantioned and usage. You need not use the car daily . It will be enough to start and run the engine for few minutes daily or two days once .

Answer by Shiva Shankar 06 June 2009

Hi,
if your running is more than 50kms daily, it makes economical sense to go for a diesel vehicle - basically, the more running you have, the running cost comes down in case of a diesel car.
Diesel cars having a high maintenance cost is untrue now with TDI & CRDI engines. Diesel vehicles having high maintenance cost is a mindset - the products on offer now are technically much superior than what was available in the 80s & early 90s.I am driving Tata indica & Indigo for more than 8 yrs now & have not had any major maintenance issues - but do keep getting the car serviced regularly as per manufacturer's recommendations.
Go ahead with Indigo CS diesel - it is a good value for money

Go for Tata Indigo CS. I am a doctor and have to run between home to clinic and have got Tata Indigo CS LX and my useage of the car is less than 500 kms in a month and it's doing fine.

1.Should i go for diesel or petrol vehicle ?

If you plan to travel long distance and is planning to dispose the care in two years then go for Diesel.Otherwise go for Petrol

2.I Heard that diesel should be used daily ? is this true.

Not Exactly. The new age diesel engines are more refined and well tuned. Its not necessary that you should use it every day.

3.What is the resale value for the diesel vehicles?

Compared to a petrol vehicle Resale value of a Diesel Vehicle is less. This is because year is inversely propotional to resale value for a Diesel vehicle. As year increases the resale value decreases.

5.Can any one suggest me is better at that price 4-5 L

Maruti A Star,Maruti Ritz,Fiat Stile. There lots in this bracket. Please test drive and make your choice.
Regards

if you have to travle 500 km in a month then according to me don't buy deisel car. It's better you buy indigo cs petrol.

Answer by Sagar 06 June 2009

Hey,
I agree with many people here that if your usage is limited then you should look for petrol vehicle. If you need some more info u can write to me on anayacharya@yahoo.co.in

Answer by Anay 06 June 2009

Hi Guys,
Let me tell u a simple calculation.

In the case of the Indigo CS.
You will be investing 75000/- more for ur diesel car.

Petrol Mileage : 13 , Diesel Mileage: 16
Expense for 1 km
Petrol = 47 / 18 = 3.61
Diesel = 2.45

Diesel Advantage per km = Rs 1 (approximate).
So when u completes 75000 km, the diesel car starts giving u profit. And for you, it will take more than 9 years to complete it. :D
So now tell me, is it really worth to invest that much more & get less pickup & comfort. And if you are taking a car loan, it will increase your EMI by more than 1250 atleast.

Answer by Sreevisakh 06 June 2009

Going for Indigo CS might not be a very good choice at this time. The TATA Quality is still Average. You can easily go for Maruti Suzuki SWIFT or similar hatchbacks.
Indigo CS is sedan but space is almost same as Swift. Its bit costlier but BEST Quality from Maruti Team.

Answer by Umesh 06 June 2009

hi,
it may be my personal bias, but dont buy tata diesel car,
we have several indigo cars in our company, and my god they make horrible noise, build quality is so poor, they are no pleasure to drive, very bad pick up,(if ur used to driving petrol cars). goes up the gradients in ghats, as if ur torturing the engine,
u may try ikon diesel, or dzire diesel.
i thing they are much refined and better,
if u still want to go for a tata car, just wait a while,
they r launching tata indica vista(diesel) in sedan model, thats a good car for sure. it uses fiat diesel engines.

Answer by Umesh 06 June 2009

I fully agree to the point made by sreevisakh. For 500km, 6000 km for a year, go for any petrol car, For 5 lacs u can have accent as best choice, ikon as second and indiso cs as 3rd.(that is if you are lookin for boot space). If not close your eyes and choose Maruti Ritz - Best engine as of today.

Answer by Amit 06 June 2009

hi ...i suggest u to go with petrol one...bcoz ur running is only 500km/month which means ur daily running is 16 km approx ....diesl car are costlier approx 80000 approx from petrol ...i suggest u to go with dzire vxi (petrol)..very good performance car.. good mileage of 13 to 16 ...smoth drive...good comfart ...its also in ur budget ...so go with this ...value 4 money car

Answer by Lovelesh Sahota 06 June 2009

Never go for a diesel car when u travel less. For petrol car, u may choose Chevrolet Aveo U-VA 1.2 with AC and power Steering. The engine is almost noiseless. U will never find any second sale of this car, 'coz, no one sell his Aveo U-VA. This car is a good one with better comfort and wide space.

Answer by Jamil Sayed 06 June 2009

My advice will be to purchase a petrol car. If you will do the economics it will not suit for your driving. Also diesel car running is not smooth. Its very sluggish and on AC it almost die. Maintenance for diesel car is also more than petrol car. Therefore, my suggestion will be to go for some good petrol run vehicle may be in the same price range or cheaper.

Answer by Sanjay Kumar Singh 06 June 2009

Petrol vs Diesel
If your usage is 2500-3000 kms a month only then buy diesel orwise buy petrol version of same car/segment
if u use 1000 kms a month then breakeven point between two cars is about 4 years. Then reselling would also fetch less in diesel car
For you using 500 kms a month no way that diesel car makes any economic sence

That is by far the best answer!!!!!!!!
