I have driven a Safari between 2002 and 2008 and a Scorpio vx since past 15 months after I sold the Safari. If you are looking for an Indian SUV I strongly recommend Scorpio. The following points score over Safari:

a) Pick-up (Scorpio is 80% quicker)
b) Noise (30% lesser)
c) Mileage (9.5 KM vs. 12 KM with AC)
d) Quality of electronics and material used (Safari power windows stopped working after 12 months and were never fixed properly for the next 5 years)

i have safari since 1999 . i love this car bcoz safari is made for man . its a royal horse. safari's memtence is not so costly .... and the new decore 2.2 is less with all new elements .people do say tht plastic quality of safari is low so dear this car is used in national security . govt of india had certifide this car is safe .....


i had drived and owned all the model of safari simple decore was not so good . but decore 2.2 is the best

My policy has been to stick with the Indian vechicles especially the SUV's. I drive a lot outside the cities and these vechicles are best suited on these roads because of the road cleareance and at the ease at which minor things that can be fixed by a road side mechanic in case u had touble. I had a scorpio for 2 years and then switched to Safari as it has the best seating space and great leg room for a 6 footer. Scorpio is defnitely quicker but the space is crampy and I did not like the near vertical finish in the driver console.
When choosing an SUV throw the mileage factor out of the door. Being Indian vechicle there is always a compromise on the quality of the interior as compared to a CRV , but we are not going to sleep in it ; - ).
I would recomment a Safari Dicor , but it's a owners choice end of the day, Good luck on your buy
