Hi

I own an Optra for the 3 years +.
With regards to your queries, pls find below my inputs based on my experience.

- Spacewise it is an extra ordinary car. There is ample
room inside & the leg room is by far the best in class.
- Mileage ? well it is a fuel guzzler in the city. With the
mileage ranging from 7 - 8 kms to a litre (petrol). On
the contrary for long trips on highways I have got an
astounding mileage of 13-14 kms per litre (petrol).
- Maintenance - Frequent check-up is a must. Every 5000 kms
instruct the mechanic to do a comulsory check-up on the
overall health of the car. Things to focus are, AC
cooling coil this gives a life of until 50000 kms.
Spark plugs , the various belts in the engine side,
Bearings on the engine side, watch out for squeaky noise
& promptly replace worn-out parts. Check Battery &
do wheel alignment & balancing every 5000 kms. Most
important service your car from a GM authorised dealer
only. (even if it is costly) you will be assured of
genuine parts & trouble free driving experience.

Wishing you Happy driving experience. Have a nice day.

My friend,
I completely agree with views of Rajesh. Used Optra 1.6 base for 4 years, but was very disappointed with the resale value. That was one thing I never bothered about when I bought the car in 2004. Just went for the looks & comfort. (Few cars in its class with struts for rear suspension). This car is pure pleasure.
Make sure u buy only genuine spares/services. Happy driving.

While owning a chevrolet optra is a good feeling, but maintance cost is huge. I own a 2005 Optra 1.6, i am trying to sale. But the cotation which in return i am getting is very low than compare to other cars, and the parts are costly than compare to other cars...

So best of luck... Hope we have cleared your quiery...

Cheers

Hi the car which has been mentioned in the query Chevrolet Optra 1.8 and not 1.6 which many of the above people has expressed their views on.
According to me its the best in the class car,its comfort in uncomaparble to any, mileage(within Metro)is around 10-11 per litre, though the cost of the parts are high if you do a servicing every 5000 Kms there is no-concern at all.
So dont worry go ahead any buy this wonderful machine.Just to add i own a optra 1.8 LT of 2004 make and i have never had a complain with my car till date.

Hi,
Mr Rajesh has given good detils Optra 1.8 has good interiors, space and body style. But maintenance cost is on higher side, and low resale value. Considering the availability of Optra at around 3.0 lac and its advantages it will be worth buying.
