Hi,
To recognise accident repairs the main areas to be checked are the joints like that near suspension, engine mount area, body joints near brake pedals, door joints etc.In original body the joints are sealed with factory sealent and it can be easily distinguishable fromthat of welded joints after repairs. For repainted portion the shining will be better than next body portion though its very difficult to recognise with white paint, will be quite distinguishable with other colours especially with older vehicles. In many of cars chassis number will bementioned on the body behind the engine, the same will not be available for major repaired/replaced body shells.
