whay don't to take a look at the Hyundai i10 & i20. For your budget, you can pick the high end model of i10 or the base model of i20. Both share the same Kappa engine which is pretty economical, smooth, robust and are technically more advanced than the Swift engine. My past experience with Hyundai for 2 years tells me they have pretty reliable products and the spares too are resonably priced.

The swift VDI fits your requirement. But have a look at the Ritz Vdi as well. Too bad that Maruti is not launching the ZDI version
