Hi,
the choice is easy. If he wants diesel, its the Verna Automatic. if he wants petrol, honda is the clear choice, but go for the automatic.

u didnt mention that verna petrol or diesel version.if its diesel then no doubt verna should be your choice as there is no comparison with honda bec. verna definitely beat honda in fuel efficiency,maintenance,power but not in interiors. but if comparison is with verna petrol then u shd go for honda.

No doubts, as Neel mentioned, its depends on fuel type. But other things are also need to consider. City has high re-sale value compare to Verna. Fuel efficiency not matter much if you are running on highways. I am City owner and on high ways always give around 20 KMs/L and Verna gives some where around 27 KMs/L. Also its individual choice on looks and brand selection.
