there was news that maruti would cut down on 800 price....but i dun thnk it actually happened....u lost d bet buddy...

Maruti 800 was priced at 83,000 when it was first launched in 1983. We bought a car in 1987 for 87000. It was defenitely less than a lakh - 26 years ago

when the material,labour cost & Taxes were less during the Maruti-800 was Launched in india, intial cost was less than one lakh in1983, but you can't compare the cost with Nano,
nano is cheaper than maruti, why because today the cost of material,labour & taxes are 4 times more,Hence nano is cheapest car in India.

Mr. Kiran you won the bet . There is no need to compare the price of raw materials then and now since the bet was regarding the cost price immaterial of the other factors.

Maruti was aimed at Rs. 50.000/= during planning stages, but when it rolled out it was costing Rs. 80000 plus. Although it is acceptable that for todays rates, still Nano is cheaper, still as a bet, you will stand to loose with your Friend.

No not atall. Maruti 800 and Maruti Van both were less than one lac only in 1985, 1986 and 1987.

Ok you lost your bet, I think.Before Nano means how long before?????? 25 yrs ago, yes it was at about Rs 85,000 while Omni was about Rs 75,000. Not int he recent memory, dear.

Maruti 800 price was never under 1.50 lacs, unless exchange offer and discounts.

My sister was book Maruti/800 when it first launched in only Rs.75000 at Dehli.
