Cars Q&A

Question
I am looking to buy a 2nd hand Honda Civic. What factors should i consider while buying it? and what will be the best price for the basic model? And are there any chances of rates further falling of used cars by june or july since the recession has hit the sales of car.

Hi,
You can get good conditioned Civic for around 8.0 lac with suitable negotiations. While buying please give attention to vehicle history and take test drive and get general body check up. That should be good enough. There can be further falling in price of used cars, still there wont be drastic changes. As far as Civic is concerned the price may be slightly lesser than what its costs now but can not expect much for its performance and brand value.

hello,
you can get a good conditioned civic at 7 lacs approx. Please check with past records of car, that includes the kms run, no. of users, and check if it has accidental history.
I guess the price of cars should fall in coming future but predicting in how much time is unclear.

I dont think you can expect any reduction in prices of 2nd hand honda civic due to recession. Someone who is owning a Civic wont be really bothered abt REcession except for a few. If you are planning to buy a 1-2 years old civic, the best price you can offer is about 8.5-9 Lakhs. If you are planning to buy a car more than 2 years old, then you might get a better deal ~7-8 Lakhs.
THe prices of cars are only going to go higher after the elections. And all the cars are launching hybrid, diesel versions, so the Prices are going to higher than the CURRenT prices. GOod luck.

I differ from Mr Ashok, there will be a fall in prices, infact it has already started. Some one who is owning civic might not be bothered by recession, but some one who is buying a used civic will surely be hit by recession. So all the used civics in market will be hit by it. If the seller expects a buyer the rates are tend to be less. By july you must expect a good fall in prices.
As per what factors to consider, i would advice you to take a mechanic you know personally or are in good terms with and make him check the car, especially the engine, tyres. Also check for any damages.
Good luck and i hope you get a good machine :)
