Cars Q&A

I am confused between buying an AMT Tata Zest or a Volksvagon Vento 7 speed diesel car. Experts and friends please advice.

  • yes zest is value for money. All other foreign cars the issue of maintenance and resale is quite pinching. For indian cars the scenario is much better.

  • Hi
I think you are looking for automatic car. Both the cars are good at different levels. If the budget is between 8 to 9 laks then TATA Zest is a good car. low maintance, and there is offer for 3 years free service for only 8k. If you don't have budget issues then go for Vento DSG fully loaded car around 14 laks. maintenance is little high. Both are good cars

  • Tata Zest will be a good option with a fresh new European design and good cabin space with the same trusted Fiat quadrajet 1.3 l engine. which is meant for performance. Same Engine is also powers Maruti swift. TATA has optimized the Engine for AMT performance and it is good. Vento is offcourse, no doubt is excellent German Car .. however with same old design which is in the market for few years now and expensive too. So i will suggest to go for TATA Zest, its a Buget AMT Diesel Car.

  • Thanks a lot dear Mr Nagarajan and dear Mr. Imran Khan. I took a test drive of Tata Zest AMT today. Everything about the car was good, except for the fact that its NVH levels were quite high and a major flaw that I felt was that no space for left foot rest has been provided, forcing one to litearlly keep the left leg in a bend position without being able to straighten it. I own a Maruti Baleno manual and an i10 automatic car. In both the cars, space forresting of left foot has been provided which is actually very relaxing when not changing gears. I personally think, Tata needs to look into these issues, as there may be several other people who might think the same.
As mentioned by Mr. Imran Khan, even I find the design of Vento quite boring and outdated.
Will have to wait for something better and exciting.

  • Tata Zest definetly Zestup your life . The car design & feature are so plesent than dezire & Vento.
Vento is so old design. Zest AMT is best option than Vento.

  • Expert Hi Rajesh. Both the cars are indeed the best in their segment. Vento is slightly more performance oriented than the Zest. Among the two Vento is beter bet.

  • Hi Rajesh
While driving an automatic car (from personal experience) resting the left foot is a must, which gives the driver more control and comfort. So a dead pedal is of prime importance. If ZEST do not take even it is free. 7 speed DSG is certainly good, though I suggest Honds City CVT, and it has a cruise control also. Cheers
