Kindly tell me if it is right to drive petrol cars in neutral gear after gaining a speed of 100 kms and again bringing to top gear after coming down to 80 kms or so in plain roads. 2. What is the rate of fuel consumption of petrol cars in idle condition ? 3) I want by a new mid sized car. I am considering i20, Swift VXi,My travel in a week approx.200 KM My quarries are:- a)which one is better i20 or Swift vxi? or whether it is worth waiting for Toyota Liva? b)which on good should I go for disel or petrol model? Thanking for your answer in advance.

If You are buying in near furtuer then Hyundai i20 would be best.

Keep the car in 5th gear and then let it drive with the accelerator left unpressed at all. You can rev again as desired.
As for the choice of a car, the logic is simple,if you drive more than 40 kms a day,go in for a diesel.Micra diesel/Fabia would be good buys.
