Cars Q&A

Hi, I want to buy a hatchback. I have an option to go with Maruti Swift, Volswageon Polo and New Skoda Fabia. My avarage running per month is around 1000 km. Considering the safety and mileage, which brand you think is correct to go with. I can go with Swift VXi, Polo Trendline in Volswageon or Skoda Fabia Ambiente 1.2 ltr in petrol. Although, I have zeroed on Skoda Fabia Ambiente based on its build, engine, safetly, boot space and look. I am aware about its slow and less service facility compared to Maruti, but still it will a pain for once in a year considering its engine make. However, pl tell me the reason I should not go with Skoda. pl advise

Expert`s comment:

As you are completely aware of the scnario with Fabia and Skoda service, it will be worth going for Swift itself due to better service backup. However alternatively recomended to test drive Fiat grande punto which both good in performance, styling and has good service back up too.

By the way my Indica Vista Quadrajet is doing just fine. It is almost a year old and giving consistently 19 kmpl combined. No hassels so far. Lots of space and at par with swift on refinement. Service is acceptable.

Skoda Fabia is very good car, however the dealers are charging high amounts. They also do not have all the spares with them, especially body parts which if damaged may take weeks to come from factory.
The company also does not do enough to rein in the rogue dealers and the customer is left high and dry.
If you can live with this kind of issues, you may opt for Skoda cars!

Hi Amit,
Do not think about any other car, If you want complete driving pleasure , performance and peace of mind then go straight for Maruti Swfit or Maruti RITZ,I have both the cars and grt road handling. After sales and service is complete pleausre with maruti. If still you wanna go for Skoda Fabia then its a bad choice. No resale value for skoda. Its a complete Pain in A**

From safety and mileage point of view 1.2 lt polo petrol seems to be the best, as several millions are in use worldover for decades.
Swift may be second choice if only milage and servicing fecilities are concerns

You can safely go in for the Swift Vxi, because Skoda's paid service and spare parts are costlier than swift. More over Swift has a great mileage among the 3. One more suggestion, If you can wait for the 2011 swift wait and buy, but if a you want to buy a car right now, you can buy the swift.
