what is the difference between 4 cylinder, 16 valve, DOHC engines (seen in Swift and lot of other carsa)and 3 cylinder (seen in Polo, Micra Petrol etc), 8 valve, SOHC engines (seen in Micra Diesel, it has 1.5 Lit engine), which is better and why?

Hi,
The main difference lies in number of cylinders and cc of eaach cylinder.However for evaluationg oversll performance, performance of engine, overall power to weight ratio, build quality etc have to be considred. With consideration of overall factors Polo scores better than Swift.
