Cars Q&A

Question
I have a Hyundai Santro 2002 Model which has done 56000 Kms. I am the only driver of the car. The Engine is in good condition. I have recently changed the tyres, done tinkering and painting etc. I have no urgency to change the car but need your advice as to how much longer (in terms of kilometers) I can use this car without incurring unnecessary expenses.

Hi,
If you are maintaining the car acording to schedule then you can use the car for another 30K KM and later look for change.

i'm surprised at the *expert* answer that a modern car has to be changed as it approaches 1L km. modern blocks are designed to last 3L kms if:
1) you are regular with oil changes/use good quality oil.
2) use good quality fuel (from a good filling station which doesn't adulterate.
3) change your timing belt/chain on time
4) change your water pump on time.

these things will ensure your engine block lasts long. other things will definitely turn up like need to clean fuel injectors, replace fuel pump, and of course regularly change air filters and your car will be pulling along well for a long time.

another 2 crucial things to check for regularly for are:

1) oil level - check for oil leaks if the level falls too low.
2) water/coolant level - make sure that any leaks are tended to immediately and you get your entire radiator/water system checked regularly. regular radiator flushes also are good.

i have to mention that you need to educate yourself at least a little about the things i have mentioned - google search is useful in that respect. most of the daily checks are extremely simple for you and will not require any special tools or wrenching skills. the other things are fairly easily taken care of in any decent dealership/competent garage.

hai
chethan how are you....if you are sure your engine is good, sure it will run up to 100000km smoothly(do oil change+filter in times)when your cold engine starts leave it for 30 seconds to one minute in starting, allow to warm itself, kindly use a/c after 5km,dont accelerate fully before 5km,fix 70km/hr as your speed,,,wear seat belts.......take care cheten...bye bye
