My budget for a new car is about 8.00 Lakhs (can be increased for a very good car). I drive mainly in the city and the average usage is about 700 kms a month. Please advise if it is better to buy a Petrol Sedan or a Diesel Sedan. Please recommend and also advise a suitable model. Thank you

since your running is less than 1000 kms then a petrol car would be best suited to you.
in your budget
honda city is the best car which gives you all the things and since by name only best suited for city usage.
now the pricing starts from 8-9 lakh depending upon model.
according to features you can choose among models.
rest a very good package

Honda city is best suited car for you. A big no for diesel car as ur usage is very low for diesel sedan.
U can also consider Hundai Verna Petrol or Fiat Linea.
