Dear,
Nano is meant for a pleasant drive within unplanned, overcrowded indian metros(and sabji markets). Inorder to ease the traffic density within, make the passion dream of middle class family's car ride come true. Remember it is not a car meant for easing the burden of our highway.

I donot feel any such limitation exists. I am driving my bajaj caliber 2001 made, Agra to Delhi ( 210KM) nonstop frequently. The important thing how much time continiously you can drive and what is you top speed.

till your nano internal combustion engine undergoes spontaneous combustion

Basically Nano is a designed for city commuting and for short journeys. I dont think this is advisable for long stressful highway journey. However if you want to try it out, make your travel with periodic breaks/stops and maintain around 60kms, i think then it should be possible. Avoid night journeys. Happy driving..

Firstly get a fire Extinguisher and place it in car.

Secondly, couple of bucket full of water.

Thirdly, travel with friends /or atleast 4 people along with you. who can help push the vehicle back to your place.

fourthly, a good mechanic with all equipments.

fifth, 2-3 spare tyres.

I guess, this precaution will work for nano :)

Go any where with ur car and without worry.
if your car is properly maintained you can go to long drive also.
