Cars Q&A
ABS is a safety braking system much useful if you want to suddenly stop the car in rainy/slippery/icey or in emergency conditions.
In a vehicle equipped with an Antilock Braking System, the
ABS control unit constantly evaluates the speed of all wheels. If the ABS wheel-speed sensors placed at each wheel detecta lock-up, ABS intervenes within milliseconds by modulating the braking pressure at each individual wheel. In this way ABS prevents the wheels from locking during braking, thus ensuring steerability and stability combined with the shortest possible braking distance
Hi,
Mr Vinoth has given exct functioning of ABS. Apart from that abs is an additional features for braking system and does help in slippey condition. The normal brakes are also proven reliable and efficient too.The decision purely depends uponwhether willing to pay extra money for the same or not. In short,ABS is an additional feature and not a compulsary.
