Hi, what is the difference between a DOHC and SoHC engine and which one is better and why?

Hi,
DOHC double overhead cam shaft has two cam shafts as against single cam shaft Sor SOHC car. In DOHC the functioning of second cam shaft commences after exceeding the acceleration for around 60 KMPH or so for faster supply of fuel for acceleration.DOHC would be better if one is looking for higher acceleration in limited time.
