Cars Q&A

Question
Yesterday i got my car transfered on to my name. They gave me a smart card registration. My car is optra 1.6, but they have printed it as opel 1.6. Now is that a problem. The agent said i need not worry as 'GM' is mentioned on the card. Should i get it corrected or can i continue as it is? Will it have an effect when claiming insurance or selling the car? Appreciate your response.

Hi,

Though its bit inconvenience, there wont much problem as the other details like Registration number, chassis number if present are the main things for identification. However to avoid explaining the same if ever needed and for the sake of commfort you can apply for correction.

Hi mr. omar,

The problem comes when documents are checked by any authorities becos car name is mentioned wrongly and they think otherwise, as instead of Optra as Opel, as these Govt authorities will be waiting for a common man to commit small mistake and they take due advantage of it and will end with bribing these idiots, so to avoid all these better correct now itself and have a peace of mind.
