SWIFT IS ULTIMATE CHOICE.POLO IS THREE CYLINDER ENGINE AND THE HYPE FOR SAME IS FOR SHORT TIME.WHAT HAPPENDED TO THREE CYLINDERS CARS LIKE HYUNDAI ACCENT VIVA AND RECENTLY TO SKODA FABIA.APART FROM MARUTI 800 THREE POT ENGINE ARE FAILURE.I20 MAY BE A GOOD CHOICE.FIGO IS SINGLE OVERHEAD CAMSHAFT WITH THREE VALVES PER CYLINDER WHICH IS QUITE OLD TECHNOLOGY.

dear sandeep raju singh says correct SWIFT VDI is the top choise and secondly chose 1.20 / fogo (1.20 is costly figo can beteer choise in 5 lack)
3rd fiat punto is much beteer option against polo
BECAUSE maruit/fiat/tata use same diesel engine whose make by fiat company.
disadvantage of polo/fabia less servise ceentre/servise cost is much expencive against maruti/tata/hundai/fiat.
LAST FUEL COST INCREASE EVERY QUATERBY GOVT. TO PURCHASE CAR FOR GIVEN BETEER MILAGE LIKE SWIFT-VIST-FOGO.

If you are looking for least price go for Figo, full value for your money. If you want to choose the best, go for i20.
If you want to play safe and go with the majority, go for swift. Polo - no idea.
But all the above three cars are good in their own aspects and value for money you spend.

I will share my personal experience for SWIFT VDI model. It is a fantastic and wonderful car considering its performance, driving comforts and maintenance. In two years I have covered almost 60,000 Kms without any major complaint. On two fronts< I have complaint about this model. One the interior plastic quality is not upto the standard and second the body rattling noise after some time, otherwise it is really a swift car to drive.

SWIFT VDi is best of the lot in diesel segment if we consider various parameters. One may be good over the other in one aspect but overall SWIFT in diesel is best choice.
About rattle small diesel are bound to give it as diesel engines are heavy inherently.
But remember Swift is a very basic car features wise and interiors. Swift 2011 is xpected to have some cosmetic changes. You may wait if ppossible

i have used the swift vdi foralmost 2.5yrs driven 45000 kms< the car is a miracle by maruti, & yes the mileage i get in ac in city is arnd 15 to 16 highway goes till 19/,20. yes the rattling noice is bit, but this can happem in petrol as well.just remenber 1 thing change oil & oil filter every 5000kms thats it & ur car will be just perfect maintnce free.regards sameer 9821048583

Happy to see that ,all and every one recomending Swift VDi, Here i like to share my experience. We find TATA Vista one step better than swift. Both have the same engine from Fiat,the travelling comfort in vista is more than swift, and also initially vista was with old gearbox, now that also changed.

Think about Ritz Diesel. I own one since dec 2009 and have driven 12000 kms. The torque is excellent and one of the most comfortable, excellent pickup and highly stable in high speeds of 150 kms. Now talking about the shape, it has a aerodynamic shape of a bullet. If you love speeds and want to rule to road, ritz is the ultimate option in hatchback.

go for swift that is the best maintaince free car in that category

Go for Punto or Swift.Swift (D) is also good choice.But in Swift you will only get power & economy.In Punto you will get more refined engine,features,Safty,Outstanding handling & many more.FIAT (Multijet) & Maurti (DDiS) engine is Gem.
Both engine are same.But performance is differant.

may be thinking of the reasle issue

but once u drive punto u will fall in love...
no rattling like d swift(i am not saying swift is bad)
superb drive, super suspension(far far away from maruti)
and the handling punto wont give u more heartbeats at corners sure...
and the italian Maserati looks r different, really non conventional(some wont like)

its a great car..
