Recently, the American automaker Chevrolet revealed that they will not be introducing the Spin MPV in India. This time around, the automaker has confirmed that it will also discontinue the existing Enjoy MPV in the country. This also marks the company’s exit from the ailing MPV segment in the country.

Given the recent trend, except the Toyota Innova and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the MPVs have not found many takers in the country. Recent entrants like Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and Nissan Evalia have failed to make a mark in this segment. The Chevrolet Enjoy which has been around for a few years, has been no different, as its sales figures too never really took off.

Chevrolet will instead focus on introducing the new Beat, Beat Activ crossover and the Essentia compact sedan which will based on the Beat platform. Later, the company will also be introducing the new Trailblazer and the next-gen Cruze. Moving forward, the company might also discontinue the Sail sedan and the Sail U-VA hatchback in the country which also has been struggling with sales numbers. However, this might take a while and is expected to happen only after the Essentia has been introduced.

The discontinuation of Chevrolet Enjoy will also help the American automaker to cut down losses and fasten the process to shut down its Halol facility. Chevrolet introduced the Enjoy MPV in India way back in 2013. The vehicle was offered in seven-seat or eight-seat options and was available in three trims – LS, LT and LTZ. Under the hood, it came with a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which generated 99bhp of power and 131Nm of max torque, while the diesel variant came with a 1.3-litre engine which generated about 74bhp of power and 173Nm of peak torque. Both engines came mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
